Ramadan may be ending, but its purpose was never meant to stay within one month.
Ramadan Was the Beginning, Not the End
During Ramadan, many of us tasted a version of ourselves we want to keep. A version more mindful, more connected and more intentional with Allah. Post-Ramadan self-care begins with asking one important question:
Which habits do I want to carry forward?
It might be daily Quran, intentional dua, waking up earlier, or simply slowing down and being more present. You don’t need to keep everything — just hold onto what brought you closest to Allah.
Choose Post-Ramadan Habits That Are Sustainable
Consistency matters more than intensity. Even small acts done regularly are beloved to Allah. Choose habits that fit into your real life, not just your Ramadan routine.
One way to stay grounded is through daily reminders and affirmations. These gentle anchors realign your heart with intention, even on the busiest days. That very need for consistency is what inspired us to create The Soulful Muslim: to help weave Islam into everyday life, not just special moments.
Islamic Habit to Carry Forward: Fasting Six Days of Shawwal
One beautiful Sunnah to continue after Ramadan is fasting six days of Shawwal.
The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever fasts Ramadan and then follows it with six days of Shawwal, “it is as if they fasted the entire year” (Muslim).
It’s a powerful reminder that the reward of Ramadan can continue if we choose to continue showing up.
